Nutritional Counselling respects your privacy and handles personal information with care. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you. We aim to handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy obligations, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.

Who we are

Nutritional Counselling is operated by Mark Casamento. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or complaints, email Mark@nutritionalcounselling.com.au.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use our website and services, we may collect:

  • your name, email address, telephone number and other contact details;
  • information you provide in an application, health history form, food and lifestyle diary, agreement, consultation or message;
  • health, nutrition, lifestyle, goals, symptoms, medications, allergies and other sensitive information you choose to provide;
  • appointment, payment and transaction records, but not your full payment card details;
  • records of our communications and services provided; and
  • technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, cookies and website usage data.

Why we collect and use information

We collect and use information reasonably necessary to:

  • review suitability for our services and identify when clarification, medical clearance or referral may be appropriate;
  • personalise and deliver nutrition education and lifestyle coaching;
  • manage appointments, payments, forms, agreements and client communications;
  • maintain appropriate business, professional and insurance records;
  • operate, secure and improve our website and services; and
  • meet legal, regulatory and professional obligations.

Health and other sensitive information

Health information is sensitive information. We collect it with your consent when it is reasonably necessary to assess suitability for or provide our services, or where collection is otherwise permitted or required by law. Please provide only information that is relevant and accurate. We do not sell personal or health information.

How we collect information

We usually collect information directly from you through our website, application and client forms, email, telephone or video conversations, appointment bookings, payment records and consultations. If information is provided by another person, we will take reasonable steps to ensure it was provided with appropriate authority.

Service providers and overseas processing

We use trusted providers to operate our website, forms, email, scheduling, video meetings, payments and business records. These may include WordPress and our website host, Square, Calendly and Google Meet. We share only the information reasonably necessary for those providers to perform their services.

Square processes payments under its own privacy terms. Nutritional Counselling does not receive or store your full card number. Calendly manages appointment scheduling, and Google provides video meeting services. Some providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they or their service providers operate. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies.

Disclosure

We may disclose information to service providers and professional advisers who assist us, or when disclosure is authorised or required by law. With your consent, we may also communicate with a health practitioner or other person involved in your care. We do not disclose personal information for unrelated marketing by third parties.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website may use essential cookies and similar technologies to function, protect forms, remember preferences and understand general website use. You can change cookie settings in your browser, although some features may not work correctly.

Security and retention

We take reasonable administrative, technical and physical steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above or to meet legal, professional and insurance requirements, then securely delete or de-identify it where appropriate.

Access and correction

You may ask to access personal information we hold about you or request a correction by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable period. In some circumstances the law may permit or require us to refuse access; if that occurs, we will explain the reason where we are able to do so.

Privacy concerns and complaints

Please email Mark@nutritionalcounselling.com.au with details of your concern. We will acknowledge and investigate it and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Urgent health concerns

Website forms, email and appointment systems are not monitored for emergencies. If you need urgent medical assistance in Australia, call 000.

We may update this policy when our practices, service providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page with a revised date.
